WHAT IS RUSH?
Rush is a series of events over a week to allow potential rushees the opportunity to learn more about Alpha Kappa Psi while in turn allowing the Active Brothers to learn more about interested individuals. Get involved and check out some of our Rush events!
DO I HAVE TO BE A BUSINESS-‐ORIENTED MAJOR TO APPLY?
Absolutely not. Alpha Kappa Psi recognizes the universal nature of business. Professionalism is required of all industries. Alpha Kappa Psi is open to all majors.
HOW IS ALPHA KAPPA PSI DIFFERENT FROM OTHER BUSINESS FRATERNITIES?
Alpha Kappa Psi is open to all majors and offers a wide range of opportunities, allowing our Active Brothers to excel where they choose. The breadth of knowledge gained and shared by the Active and Alumni Brothers allow us to offer innovative perspectives on business and beyond.
IS ATTENDANCE AT RUSH EVENTS REQUIRED IN ORDER TO APPLY?
There are no attendance requirements in order to apply for the pledge program. However, it is strongly encouraged for all potential candidates to attend as many events as possible in order for them to get to know the Chapter a better and vice versa.
WHAT ARE THE REQUIREMENTS IN ORDER TO BE ELIGIBLE FOR RUSH?
The requirements in order to be eligible are as follows:
• Enrolled student at San Jose State University
• Minimum cumulative 2.5 GPA (All college GPA)
• 2 semesters remaining at SJSU ( 1 to pledge, 1 to be an active member)
WHAT IS PLEDGING?
Pledging is a semester long process in which you will be given the opportunity to show your character, skills, and leadership to the Omega Phi Chapter of San Jose State University. You and your pledge class will be given the task of planning and executing professional, social, community service and fundraising events. The goals of assigning these tasks are to develop critical skills that will become invaluable in your academic and professional career.
DOES ALPHA KAPPA PSI HAZE?
Alpha Kappa Psi has a strict zero-‐tolerance policy for hazing. The Omega Phi Chapter prides itself in functioning in accordance with all hazing prevention policies set by San Jose State University. If a member is found to have participated in any form of hazing, he/she will be reported to the proper authorities.
